Q: What are the 3 types of combine harvester?
A: Combines come in 3 main types that relate to the way they separate grain:
Shaker: The conventional harvester, most commonly used on farms. The technology is the oldest but also very reliable, however the grain produced is of lower quality than other types.
Rotor: These are more compact than conventional combines and require less maintenance. They produce a better quality yield as the grain harvested is less broken. However, they consume more fuel and are more sensitive to the condition of the harvest, such as its mass and humidity.
Hybrid: Composed of a drummer and concave with rotors, these machines harvest the grain by threshing and cause less damage to it, resulting in a higher quality final product.
Q: What to consider when buying a new combine?
A: Consider the area of land you’ll be harvesting and the time it will take. If you have a large amount of land then a bigger machine may be better. If the machine you are looking at is used, then check how many hours of service it has already provided. Typically a combine harvest will have a life of around 10 years if used for between 300 and 450 hours per year. If the machine is used more then its lifespan will shorten, though as always a good maintenance schedule readily available from T H WHITE will help to increase this. Q: Which brands of combine harvester do you sell?
A:Our main brands for new combine harvesters are New Holland and Case IH as an authorised dealer for these. However we often have a number of top quality used combines in our inventory from brands such as John Deere and Claas as well.
